Would you like to help CICRA in our aim of a happy future for children and young people with IBD? We are a small team, so there are many ways in which you could help, and you will be hugely appreciated.
If you live in or near Sutton in Surrey (SW London) and would like to give a few hours on a voluntary basis, please ring 020 8949 6209 or email email@example.com
Our office can always make use of local volunteers − for example, with administration, or newsletter mailings or Christmas cards − so please ring the office to discuss this or any other help that you can offer.
If you don’t live nearby but would like to help, there are so many ways in which you could help support CICRA in our work.
We couldn’t hold our IBD family information days without all the health professionals who volunteer to speak at these events; children and parents who tell their stories and staff family members who volunteer to help. Our medical advisory panel offers invaluable review for research funding applications and our medical director is an unpaid honorary role. Our trustees give a lot of time and effort to supporting us on a voluntary basis.
We’re grateful to have the support of parents who offer to speak to others and children who connect with other children with IBD via our epals scheme. We’re also lucky to have Vicki Sharp who is our volunteer photographer and Chris Lee - our volunteer graphic designer. Whatever your talents or interests, we can usually find a way to make use of them.
Volunteer roles - how you can help
Supporting patients and families
Visiting clinics in your region and speaking to patients at IBD clinic days, helping us provide feedback on health services and representing families at national level to improve care.
Checking GP surgeries and hospitals have our most recent information.
Helping us set up support groups around the UK or signposting people to our support by raising awareness within your local community.
Typing letters, mailing patient, teacher and children packs, researching and confirming contact details for medical professionals, help with bookings for information days and events, help to update our database, and supporting projects with other admin tasks.
Preparing and posting supporter fundraising packs, writing to companies to seek support, writing to Rotary clubs and community organisations or local business groups to ask for support, arranging cheque collections, seeking out new opportunities and researching other charities.
Digital and web
Support our work by providing good-quality, interesting content for our social media pages and new website. Help compile case studies for us to use to show the impact of IBD on children, young adults and families. Prepare content for use and design presentations to run on our YouTube channel. If you have photography and video skills, these could be especially useful.
Support children with crohns and colitis by assisting with events such as Family Information Days: by helping set up and being there on the day to lend a hand, or cheering on fundraisers at running or outdoor events.
