CICRA organise several family information days in various parts of the country throughout the year. At the meetings we have a number of presentations on various aspects of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), a young person talking about their experiences of living with IBD and a parents perspective. Following this we split into small groups where members have to opportunity to ask questions of specialist doctors, scientists, dieticians, psychologists etc or just listen to other people’s questions.
Our next family information day will be on Saturday 10th May 2014 at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford (Cambridge).
We produce a ‘Can’t Wait’ card, for our members to ask for urgent use of toilet facilities at school and in shops, libraries, offices and other places
where public toilet facilities are not provided.
For our young members we offer a ‘Pen Pal’ scheme; it aims to put children and young adults suffering from Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis in touch with each other by e-mail.
We also offer a service for parents ‘Parents in Contact’. If you would like to chat by e-mail with other parents of children and young adults who have Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, then join CICRA’s ‘Parents in Contact’. Share your thoughts, concerns and questions with others facing similar challenges. Also, you never know when your experiences could help others.
Membership of CICRA will also give you access to our online forums which are a valuable source of information and support for both adults and young people.
