CICRA’s main focus is to maintain and expand a research programme in three main funding streams – Paediatric Research Fellowships, PhD Studentships and Research Projects. Many of the specialists who today treat children with IBD have been trained through our programmes.
Since 1978 CICRA has funded:
- 22 Training Fellowships
- 20 PhD Studentships
- 56 Research Projects
- Set up first Paediatric Gastroenterology Laboratory in the UK
To date CICRA, its members, supporters and friends have raised some £5m for peer reviewed research and in supporting young health professionals who specialise in treating young Crohns and colitis patients further their education and knowledge about inflammatory bowel disease.
The team of CICRA Research Fellows post regular Research Blogs on the CICRA website. To read the latest Research Blog “What makes some patients with Crohn’s different?” visit http://www.cicra.org/what-we-do/research-blog
